Magic in the Root Chakra

Magic in the Root Chakra

"I am connected with the energy of Mother Earth. My body, mind, and spirit are grounded, centered, and purified."

Oh, the Root Chakra. The beginning and end for all those on a spiritual healing journey, and for a good reason. (*picture me laughing up at the heavens*) The Root Chakra is the first chakra found in the Main Chakra System. I believe this chakra can hold onto everything, the darkest deepest layers of our experiences, the good and the bad, the place we shove things down to deal with later. It is one of my favorite chakras to work with and also one of the hardest. So before we start diving into these dark spaces, let's first become acquainted with the chakra.

The Root Chakra is also known as the Muladhara in Sanskrit. Mula means "root," and adhara means "base" or "support."

The root chakra's location in the physical body is at the base of the spine, and the color red represents it. This chakra oversees many areas of the lower physical body, including; feet, muscles, bones, hip joints, and coccygeal vertebrae. It also watches over the immune system, teeth, bladder, rectum, and large intestine (elimination system). It expresses itself in emotional, mental, and physical manners.

When your root chakra is out of balance, you may experience mental or emotional ailments such as fear, lack of focus and follow-through, a sense of spaciness or disconnection, or you may find yourself in a self-destructible state. For example, you may be overeating, hoarding, being paranoid, fearing change, or experiencing greed. In addition, if there is an imbalance, you may notice yourself experiencing disgust, abandonment, anger, sadness, shame, guilt, or even rejection. Finally, you may not understand your self-worth or sense of security.

You may experience hemorrhoids, skin problems, fibromyalgia, constipation, obesity or other eating disorders, and even chronic fatigue on a physical level. Or even chronic lower back pain, sciatica, degenerative arthritis, knee problems, depression, and anxiety. It seems like the list goes on and on.

When the Root Chakra is balanced, open, and aligned, you are deeply grounded to the Earth. You feel one with your community, have a strong sense of security, and are taken care of with shelter, food, and water. Your primary needs are being met, especially concerning material concerns. You have an awareness of your self-worth. You find yourself not being bothered or finding yourself filled with fear or anxiety. You are present and grounded in the now. For lack of better words, you have healthy bowel movements daily. You will find yourself living life more energetic, adventurous, and reliable. You can remain calm and in the present moment, the now.

As an Energy Worker, I get excited about the root chakra. However, it is the most avoided chakra for people along their spiritual journey, myself included. Allow me to explain why. First, it can be much easier to shove something down and deal with it later than to release the energy and do the work in the now. We have been programmed to "get over it." Who wants to give attention to things they don't want to deal with? It happens more frequently than we probably imagine, and it takes a lot of work to dig deep to identify letting go. The more we hold onto, the more we may feel and experience these mental, emotional, and physical illnesses within our bodies.

Secondly, the root chakra is finicky and requires everyday focus with intention. Because this chakra is called the "root," I think it could be effortless to picture the root system of a tree. Imagine this tree is within you. The roots are deep, and many of them intertwine with each other. It requires time, patience, and a sense of being gentle with ourselves, and we slowly clean up our root ball mess one root at a time.

From my experience, there is a fundamental need with this chakra that is often overlooked. I had mentioned in a previous blog post that most people enjoy working our spiritual chakras because you get that instant gratification most of the time. If you have experienced a third eye or crown awakening, you may resonate with this feeling, and those who haven't may find themselves longing for this experience. During these feelings of awakening, you may notice that we lose that sensation; sometimes, we lose those moments later, or maybe even a couple of hours or days. This creates a craving. We often lose these vibrational feelings because our physical chakras are not open, balanced, activated, and aligned. There is an imbalance occurring in the first physical chakras. It is almost like we are trying to skip steps. Yes, we can have the experience but imagine if you worked your way up the chakra system rather than skipping over the chakras that are actually in need of healing.

Maybe you resonated with an ailment that I mentioned above and are ready to start the process of healing ourselves. Some tips and tricks that I have found most helpful might be able to help you.
